Accreditation Information As an Accredited Service Center, the Pastoral Counseling Centers has met the stringent standards for theological integration, organization structure, clinical function, and personnel credentials of AAPC. These standards increase the level of accountability and quality of the services of the agency, and provide an important protection to counselees, congregations, and other users of our services. Pastoral counseling is a unique form of counseling which uses spiritual resources as well as psychological understanding for healing and growth. It is provided by individuals who are not only mental health professionals but persons who have had in-depth religious and/or theological training. The AAPC is very familiar with this discipline, its vision and standards. The Pastoral Counseling Centers of Tennessee became an Approved Training Program of the AAPC in January 1999. The curriculum in the Clinical Pastoral Therapist Program was presented to the AAPC Institutional Accreditation Committee, evaluated and approved. The Board of Directors, Education and Training Committee, Faculty and Training Programs Director are pleased to offer this program for persons who seek a vocation in pastoral counseling, and understand our Approval as a significant step in setting and maintaining high standards. It is the first such program in Tennessee and offers an excellent opportunity for persons who can serve in this special role. For further information on the AAPC, one may e-mail info@aapc.org |
